Overview
UC San Diego has multiple options available to help faculty, staff, and students create websites.
- Campus ITS Workplace Technology and Infrastructure Services (WTS) offers a few free options for official UC San Diego-affiliated websites.
- Other departments also offer web services for specific communities.
Options
ITS Supported Options
WTS provides a popular campus instance of Hannon Hill CMS to approved affiliates. It provides:
- Branded templates and modules
- Training and support for content management and accessibility requirements
CMS Site Requirements
- You must be affiliated with an academic department or program, official ORU, Health Sciences (clinical), or School of Medicine site.
- The site must be permanent. One-time events, notices, and other temporary items should be placed on an existing website or on a Simple Site (see below).
- Someone in your area must commit to owning and updating the website on a regular basis.
- Agree to use the standard campus-wide branded templates and follow recommended best practices and accessibility rules.
- Have a university Active Directory (AD) account for accessing.
CMS Site Options
- General sites: For campus and School of Medicine departments and centers with a public-facing focus.
- Blink: Hosts content dedicated to faculty and staff.
- TritonLink: Hosts content dedicated to students.
Simple Sites
Simple Sites is another WTS-managed website environment that is free for approved affiliates. This WordPress hosting environment, through CampusPress, allows users to create a basic website or blog with UC San Diego-branded templates that conform to recommended best practices and accessibility rules.

Sharepoint
Microsoft SharePoint provides a collaboration workspace that integrates with Office 365 apps and services. Sharepoint is set up behind an Active Directory login and managers can set user roles.

Course sites are available from Educational Technology Services (ETS) and Medical Education Technology ( MedEDTech)
