• Before you begin, make sure you have the most recent operating systems for your devices.  Early versions that are no longer being updated by Apple do not contain the latest security protections.

Steps to Take

---

 Mac OS X 10.4.x to 10.10.x

Requires a Mac device running Mac OS X 10.11 or above.  Earlier versions are no longer being updated by Apple and are considered a security risk.

1. Click on the Airport / Wi-Fi icon on the top right of your computer (near the system clock).
2. Select the UCSD-PROTECTED network.
3. Enter your Active Directory credentials when prompted.

iPhone/ iPod Touch/ iPad iOS 10 or above

1. On homepage, select Settings.
2. Select Wi-Fi. 
3. Set your Wi-Fi to ON if you haven't already done so.
4. Select the UCSD encrypted wireless service, UCSD-PROTECTED
5. Authenticate:
   
   1. In the Username field, enter your Active Directory username.
   2. In the Password field, enter your Active Directory password.
6. When prompted, select Accept to accept the UCSD certificate. You will receive a certificate of either auth.ucsd.edu or dhcp2.ucsd.edu.
7. You should now be connected to the UCSD encrypted (WPA2-E) wireless service.
