Upgrade to an Open Computer Environment (OCE) Account

Overview

OCE accounts are designed to provide students with on-going access to computers labs and servers that are dedicated to supporting their major or division.  OCE accounts support both personal computing and upper-division course work. Your lower-division courses may have created a course-specific account for class resources, but your upper-division classes will use your OCE account to allocate appropriate resources to your account.

If you are in one of the qualifying majors on OCE Account Types and Facilities page, you can upgrade to an OCE account. Follow the steps below to request an upgrade to an OCE account.  Once your account has been setup, see how to Access OCE Course Resources.

Steps to Take

1. Use our OCE Upgrade tool

If you qualify for an OCE account and do not currently have one, use our OCE Upgrade Tool here.

2. Wait for your account to be created

Accounts are created on our servers in the early morning and evening, so wait at least 12 hours for your account to be created on the new systems to which you are gaining access

3. Verify you password

If you have an existing personal account, we will try to use the encrypted password from that account for your new account. If we are unable to do so, you will need to set the password yourself. Feel free to set it to the same password you already have!

Password not working? You need to wait up to 15 minutes for the password change to take effect.   Then, you will be able to log in and use your new account!
