Overview
As a UC San Diego student, you are required to complete the SHAPE training on an annual basis. This training is designed to provide you with important information about UC Policies, including the Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment Policy and the Anti-Discrimination Policy.
Getting Started
To access the SHAPE training, follow these steps:
- Log in to main campus’s Canvas at canvas.ucsd.edu using your Single Sign-On (SSO) credentials.
- You should be automatically enrolled in the SHAPE training course.
- Access the SHAPE training on your course Dashboard; It should appear as a course card.
- Complete the training by following the prompts and instructions provided within the course.

- The Title IX office (OPHD) manages all content-related inquiries and requests. If you have any questions or concerns about the training, please visit https://ophd.ucsd.edu/programs/students.html.
- The SHAPE training is hosted on a trusted Canvas instance with the UC Office of the President. While it is intended to be a seamless experience, you may notice some slight differences in the interface.
- Upon completion of the training, you will not receive a certificate, but your name will be recorded as having completed the training.
- Holds will be applied to students who do not complete the training in the designated time frame, and can take up to 2-3 business days to remove the registration hold.
Troubleshooting Tips
- Enrollment Issues
- If you do not see the SHAPE training course on your Canvas dashboard upon the first time logging into canvas.ucsd.edu, wait until the next day around noon to see if it appears.
- Make sure to search “All Courses,” especially if you have set your homepage up as something different than the default.
- Browser Compatibility
- Use a laptop or desktop browser (Safari, Firefox, Chrome) to access the training.
- Do NOT use the Canvas Student app or Chromebook, as parts of the training may be incompatible.
- Login Issues
- Ensure you can log in to Canvas using your Single Sign-On (SSO) credentials.
- If you cannot log in, verify your SSO credentials are correct. If needed, reset your password through the UC San Diego SSO portal.
